How it works

Write three things

Anything counts: a good conversation, a warm shower, a problem that solved itself. It takes about a minute.

Get one gentle reminder

Pick a time and Three Things nudges you once a day. Missed a day? Just start again. No streak guilt.

See how far you've come

Scroll back through your history, search old entries, and watch a full year fill in, one day at a time.

Built on a simple exercise that works

Writing down three things that went well each day is one of the most studied habits in positive psychology. It's known as the Three Good Things exercise, and in the original 2005 study the people who kept doing it reported being happier months later.

Three Things is that exercise, with nothing added that gets in the way.

Private by design

Your journal is stored on your device. No servers, no cloud, no account, and it works offline. With Premium you can also lock the app with Face ID.

Nothing you write is read, analyzed or sold.

Free to start

Write for 5 days for free. Then choose Premium, as a yearly plan or a one-time lifetime purchase, to keep writing every day and unlock your full history, search, stats, export to PDF or text, and Face ID lock. The App Store shows the price in your currency.

Questions

Is Three Things free?

Your first 5 days of writing are free. After that, Premium (yearly or lifetime) keeps the daily journal going and unlocks history, search, stats, export and Face ID lock.

Where are my entries stored?

Only on your iPhone or iPad. There's no account and no cloud sync. Deleting the app deletes your entries, so use export (PDF or text) if you want a copy.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Open the app and start writing.

Is this the same as a gratitude journal?

Close. A gratitude journal asks what you're thankful for in general. Three Good Things focuses on what went well today. Three Things works for both. Read the difference.

Which languages and devices are supported?

The app is in English and German, and runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15.1 or later.
